Motor vehicles (other than garden machinery), caravans, trailers or watercraft or their accessories
Any property held or used for business purposes
Existing and deliberate damage occurring before the beginning of the period of insurance or caused deliberately by you
Any risk where the losses are cyber-related, arising from either malicious acts (e.g. cyber-attack, infection of an IT System with malicious code) or nonmalicious acts (e.g. loss of data, accidental acts or omissions) involving either tangible or intangible assets
Infectious or contagious disease
Unoccupied house insurance usually costs more than regular home insurance. This is because empty houses are easier targets for thefts, vandalism, and accidental damage, such as burst water pipes and house fires.
This will depend on the Level of Cover you feel is right for you and the length of time you require the Policy for. To find out the best possible price for unoccupied house insurance for you, request a quote and we can take your details and needs into account and consult our panel of expert and specialist insurance partners.
Typically, home insurance will not fully cover you if your home is unoccupied as in general certain perils such as theft would be excluded. This is because there are different levels of risk for a home that is left empty for extended periods. That’s why unoccupied home insurance is there to give you cover while your home is most vulnerable.
Knowing this difference is important as it can affect the level of cover you might want. If your home has nothing in it at all, not even furniture or belongings, then it is vacant, and you likely won’t need contents cover. For a home that is not inhabited but furnished, you will want to cover both the building and its contents.
